Apple Provide Parial QR Code Support for IOS 7

The latest update to IOS 7 has shown mixed feelings from Apple about QR Codes. The good news is there is now a QR Code featured updated within the Passbook card, which is accessible from one tap within Passbook. As we all know Apple have shunned NFC and QR Codes for a number of years while other handset makers have been embracing these technologies. NFC is still far away in Apples eyes it seems.
The latest addition of the 2D code support for IOS 7 has a sinister twist however, it will only allow you to scan QR Codes that will add Passbook content to the library. The sole purpose of the scanner is just to support Passbook pass and a convenience tool for Apple users to support Passbook more. This may provide mixed feelings as it will be a useful tool for Passbook users but QR Code IOS users may see this as a frustrating move, as it would have made sense to add full QR Code support instead of half measures.
Who knows if Apple will roll out this functionality in future to provide full QR support, only time will tell!
