An NFC-enabled mobile app has been announced by iMPak Health, which will allow users to track their cardiovascular health at home.

The RhythmTrak application is a credit card sized, mobile electrocardiogram device that calculates intervals and single waveforms and documents the heart variability and heart rates.

The collected data is transmitted via NFC-enabled smartphone or other mobile device or an NFC reader allowing the user to pass the data to a specialist.

However, the application is not a diagnostic device, rather than that it should be used to manage users symptoms during the active management of atrial fibrillation and related cardiac illness, as the conditions affects over a 1,5 million Americans.

It helps the patient to work with their physician to determine if they need a change in therapy or medication.

RhythmTrak is available on Android Marker for $39.99 and the company plans to have the app on the iOS by the end of 2012.
